Wild boars terrorize glinde: hunters fight for security!
in Glinde, a district on the outskirts of Hamburg, a wild boar invasion causes excitement! The uninvited guests not only make the gardens unsafe, they also leave anything but inviting traces. Already eleven wild boars have been killed by hunters this year who try to drive out the animals from the residential areas at the urging of the city. Michael Medag from the Stormarn district hunter explains the situation and emphasizes that the wild boars in the region feel more comfortable than ever before.
The wild boars seem to feel more and more at home in recent years and now roam the gardens, looking for food. Residents already complain about damage in their gardens, which underlines the need to intervene hunters enormously. But hunting becomes complicated, because due to the dense residential development, strict safety regulations apply. Hunters have to act extremely carefully so that there is no danger to the residents.
Safety precautions of the Jäger
To get the problem under control, several high seats were built in the adjacent fields, which are occupied once or three times a week on the nights by volunteers. Medag explains that due to the proximity to the houses, every movement must be well thought out to minimize the risk of hazard. A flat shot could fly around like a stone on the water, which would represent a massive threat to the residents.
In addition to the eleven wild boars, another three animals tragically killed in car accidents. Medag considers a complete removal of the wild boars from this area to be utopian because there are enough hiding places for smaller groups. "You also have the right to live somewhere," said Medag. So the wild boar problem remains exciting!
