On November 7, 2024, between 6:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., six courageous officers from the Bad Oldesloe police station and the Reinfeld police station started a large-scale traffic control throughout the Stormarn district. The focus was not only on road safety, but also on preventive discussions with road users to make them aware of potential dangers.
The first stop of the inspection was Bad Oldesloe, where the police particularly targeted e-scooter and cyclists. In the early hours of the morning, when it was still twilight, it was noticeable that many cyclists and e-scooter users were traveling without their lights on - an alarming safety risk! In three cases, officials even had to issue inspection reports. We then continued to Reinfeld, where Nordstormarnstrasse became the stand control point. Here, most of the drivers showed exemplary behavior and had all the necessary safety precautions at hand, including vehicle documents, first aid material and warning triangles.
Security deficiencies uncovered
Despite the positive outcome, there were complaints about ten vehicles because essential equipment was missing. Particularly noticeable was the control of seat belt use - a topic that is repeatedly the focus of controls. Police spokeswoman Sandra Kilian expressed satisfaction with the results: “The officers drew a positive conclusion and also held many preventative discussions regarding road safety.” These controls are crucial to raise awareness of road safety and emphasize the responsibility of road users.
The police urgently appeal to all road users to ensure that their vehicles are fully equipped and functional in the coming months and to always comply with traffic regulations. This is the only way to ensure the safety of everyone on the road!
