Leipzig, Deutschland - The 21-year-old triathlete Julia Bröcker from Groß Niendorf did it! She was nominated for the election as an athlete of 2024 in Schleswig-Holstein. With an impressive performance at the U23 European Championship, where she won the silver medal with the mixed relay, she secured a place on the podium. "I think it's really cool. I was already in so many different countries," beams the ambitious athlete.
Julia started her sporty career in handball, but soon she discovered her passion for triathlon. After moving to Leipzig, she celebrated numerous successes, including third place at the U23 Sprint European Championship in Turkey. "I made 20 races this year - that's a lot," she says proudly. Your training is intense: 25 to 30 hours a week, whereby it places a lot of value on swimming in winter.

What does a typical training day look like for Julia? "I sleep until eight or nine o'clock," she laughs. After an extensive breakfast, you go into swimming training, followed by running or cycling - your absolute favorite discipline. After training, there is time to relax and eat. In addition to sport, she also started studying sports management in Leipzig, which she has to cope with in parallel to her intensive training.
Although Julia does not often return to her home country due to time constraints, she is always happy to meet her parents and former sponsors Carsten Krömer. Her goals for 2025 are clear: "I just want to perform even better and show that in World Cups." With her tireless ambition and the joy of sport, Julia Bröcker is an inspiration for many!
