Repair of the Missund II is delayed - ferry traffic remains set!

The old grinding river "Missund II" between Brodersby and Kosel makes headlines! The repair takes longer than expected - instead of the planned two weeks, passengers now have to wait three weeks to return the ferry. Ferry traffic has been discontinued since October 18 and the resumption is scheduled for November 11th. A central Problem are the landing flaps, the repair of which is delayed because the engine recently suffered a warehouse damage that had to be remedied.

The Situation becomes even more complicated: the state company for coastal protection, national park and marine protection (LKN) originally sold the "Missound II" for almost 21,000 euros, but due to technical difficulties in the new "Missund III" solar ferry, it had to be bought back. During test drives, it turned out that the new ferry, which cost a proud 3.3 million euros, could not create safely in strong winds. In order to maintain ferry traffic, the LKN paid around 100,000 euros for the buyback.

conversions on the "Missound III"

The problems with "Missunde III" are not over yet! Planned conversions should last until the coming summer. Two cross -beam rows are planned, additional dolbs on both banks and a swimming pontoon as a tail unit. The investor lamps must also be adjusted. The "Missunde II" is expected to remain in use by the end of 2025, while the new ferry continues to be waiting for its final functionality.
