Löwen-Apotheke in Eckernförde: Farewell to Dr. Sharp and dog Milo!

Eckernförde.A chapter closes at the Löwen-Apotheke! After 40 years of service, the 73-year-old pharmacist Dr. Hanns-Georg Scharf retires. The popular owner not only dispensed medication, but also supported the lives of many regular customers. From January onwards he will have more time for his fluffy companion Milo, his grandchildren and new hobbies - even if he doesn't know exactly what they will be yet.

The pharmacy, which is located on Kieler Strasse, has struggled with challenges in recent years. Delivery bottlenecks and rising costs have placed a heavy burden on the industry. Scharf emphasizes that earning potential for pharmacists is declining and many pharmacies are having to close. In Schleswig-Holstein, one in five pharmacies is affected, while the Löwen-Apotheke continues to flourish. But Scharf also had to look for a successor because he wanted to hand over responsibility in his early 70s.

Successor to the Löwen Pharmacy

The good news: From January, Kiel-based Chewan Salih will be taking over the traditional pharmacy, which was founded in 1617. Salih, who is currently completing his doctorate, has already taken over a pharmacy in Mettenhof and has set himself the goal of counteracting the decline in pharmacies. He is looking forward to continuing to run the pharmacy and the team of nine employees. However, Milo, the new “dog pharmacist”, is staying with Scharf and will not be moving with him.
