Kiel sings: 1500 votes united in the large choral singing event!

A spectacular event is imminent! Niels Schröder, the creative head behind the stirring project "The north sings", is in the middle of the preparations for the grand finale of "Kiel sings" in the Wunderino Arena. After the success of the previous year with over 3000 enthusiastic guests, a 1500-strong audience choir will make the arena shake-and the tickets are already sold out! But that's not all: For Christmas singing on December 14th, Schröder plans to increase the number of visitors to an impressive 4000, and the cards are still available!

The 42-year-old choir director who lives in Elmshorn has a moving musical past. "Singing was a matter of course at home," says Schröder. His exchange year in the United States was the turning point that made him discover his passion for choral singing. Back in Germany, he immediately founded a gospel group that quickly developed into several choirs. The idea for "The north sings" came up in 2012, inspired by the sing -along parts of his gospel concerts. "Kiel sings" the people since 2017 and has now established itself in nine cities in the north.

"Kiel sings": From oldies to current Charthits

The repertoire of "Kiel sings" has only expanded to a few songs to hundreds from the beginning. Schröder makes sure that there is something for every generation - from timeless classics to the latest hits. "You don't have to be able to do all songs, we practice together beforehand," he explains. The arrangements are complex and individual, because each song is adapted to the needs of the singers. "You can't really sing every Whitney Houston song as a normal mortal," says Schröder.

In Kiel, a fixed core of around 800 passionate singers has formed, but many newcomers also dare to raise their voices. "It's nothing elitist," emphasizes Schröder. The participants go home with a feeling of pride and energy, convinced that their voices in the big choir sounded fantastic. "You can tell that they can sing," he says, and that makes "Kiel sings" an unforgettable experience for everyone!
