Duvnjak celebrates re -entry: THW Kiel receives Croatian guests!
Kiel is excited, because the second leg of the European League against the Croatian Vice Master is imminent! On Tuesday evening at 8:45 p.m., the Wunderino-Arena will be transformed into a battlefield for handball fans. After the triumphant away win of 35:26 in the Croatian city of Nasice last weekend, the THW Kiel burns to shine in front of a home backdrop.
THW captain Domagoj Duvnjak, in the truest sense, a man of roots has a very personal connection to the opponent. "It was something special, I'm at home," says the Croatian international, who only grew up 35 kilometers from his hometown Dakovo. As he calls his thumb for the team, he nostalgically thinks back of his beginnings. For him, the game is more than just a competition; It is a return that arouses memories and deepened the connection with its roots.
Intensive days for the THW Kiel on Europe's handball stage
The past few days were anything but easy for the zebras. The team not only went through a lot in handball, but also when traveling across Europe. Trainer Filip Jicha reports of a nine-hour return trip after a 37:28 win against HC Erlangen, which lasted until early Saturday morning. "It was really enormous," says the trainer. But success makes all hardships more bearable: "If you win, everything is easier," says Duvnjak.
The second leg against RK Nexe could not only set the continuation of the good performance in the league for the THW Kiel, but also bring the team's creative forces to new splendor. A victory would keep her unbeaten for a year. "That would be an incredible source of energy!" Calls coach Jicha enthusiastically. And with Duvnjak, which despite his 36 years in top shape and punishes the critics lies, the atmosphere in Kiel will be hotter than ever!
