Security in the dark: This is how you protect yourself as a cyclist and pedestrian!
Security in the dark: This is how you protect yourself as a cyclist and pedestrian!
The dark season brings uncanny dangers for cyclists and pedestrians! When the darkness pulls over the streets, recognizing unprotected road users becomes a real challenge. Children who are small and hardly visible are often overlooked. Terrifying statistics show that almost a third of the traffic fatalities die in the dark! What an alarming picture!
The ADAC urgently warns: heroic cyclists and fearless pedestrians have to lighten now! Wear bright clothes and put on warning vests! These small but effective helpers can increase the visibility to up to 140 meters. In comparison, dark -clad people in the spotlight are only recognizable from a few meters. A dark reality!
Check your warning vests!
But be careful! An exciting examination of the mobility club showed that not all warning vests reflect equally well! Before you leave the house, you should test your warning vest for your suitability. Does the reflective area shine radiantly white from a flashlight test from three meters away? If not, you can use a new one better! A simple flash test with your smartphone can also help. Good light is the key to security!
The message is clear to drivers: turn on the low beam early and drive them particularly carefully. And don't forget the cyclists! Make sure your light works and be fearless at dusk at dusk! Protect yourself and others - life directs, but security is in our hands!
