Koblenz experienced intensive monitoring of traffic on the B42 on Thursday afternoon, more precisely in Horchheim. The police carried out a speed check over a manageable period of two and a half hours, which met with a great response. In total, an astonishing 148 drivers were caught exceeding the speed limit.
Particularly noticeable was the leader among the speed offenders, who was caught driving at a speed of 152 km/h. For comparison: the permissible speed limit was 100 km/h. These serious speeding violations not only result in a fine, but also other consequences. The driver is faced with a fine of 480 euros, he also receives two points in Flensburg and a driving ban of one month.
Results of the inspection and future measures
The stop was part of a larger initiative by the Lahnstein Police Department that aims to increase road safety and raise awareness of speed limits. Such measures are not new to the region and are ongoing to monitor traffic and identify dangerous drivers.
The police have already announced that further checks will take place in the future to ensure that road users comply with the applicable regulations. Such measures are crucial to increase road safety and prevent accidents. The increased controls and the associated penalties could have a deterrent effect on other road users.
