Günther promises: less bureaucracy, more freedom for farmers!
At a recent state party conference in Schleswig-Holstein, the Prime Minister and CDU state chairman Daniel Günther presented a comprehensive concept to significantly improve agriculture in the northern region. His most important promise to farmers was a reduction in bureaucracy and creation of more freedom. According to Günther, the Union has already taken a solidarity attitude during the peasant protests and achieved a lot for farmers.
However, the CDU plans go beyond agriculture. Günther and his party have also decided to reduce bureaucratic hurdles in other areas. This includes a proposal for inventory management in the protective measures for nun and gray geese, in which it is determined how many animals can be removed annually. A particularly controversial topic was the demand for a general hunt for the strictly protected wolves. This measure should serve to get the wolf population under control, regardless of whether wolves have already torn farm animals or not.
Günther's strategies for coalition work
In the same breath, Günther praised the cooperation with the Greens in the current coalition and particularly emphasized the joint Federal Council initiatives with North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg, which dealt with topics such as security and migration. He emphasized that the pressure on the traffic light coalition should be deliberately strengthened by these initiatives. While the collaboration with the Greens was highly highlighted, Günther criticized the liberals, which some are viewed by some in the CDU as the preferred coalition partner, for their attacking attitude.
Another important statement by Günther was the unconditional commitment of his party to ensure internal security. Despite the state government's austerity course, the topic of security for the CDU is incredibly important. "We will insist that internal security in the country remains guaranteed," he announced.
The measures and views of Günther are not only important for farmers, but also affect all citizens and the political landscape in Schleswig-Holstein. The CDU seems determined to put important issues such as agriculture, security and reduction in bureaucracy and to consolidate its influence within the government coalition.
