Hollywood superstar Eddie Murphy, known for his dazzling roles, slips into a new, exciting skin! The 63-year-old will star in a highly anticipated biopic about legendary funk pioneer George Clinton, Variety reports. The film is directed by Oscar-winning Bill Condon, who brought Murphy into the spotlight in 2006 for the acclaimed film musical “Dreamgirls.” This film adaptation is based on the fascinating memoirs of the 83-year-old Clinton, who is honored as the “Father of Funk.”
George Clinton revolutionized the music scene! He founded his first band as a teenager and later led iconic groups such as Parliament and Funkadelic. Hits like “Flash Light,” “P-Funk,” “One Nation Under a Groove” and “Atomic Dog” are part of his impressive repertoire. In 1997, Parliament-Funkadelic was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2019, Clinton received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award alongside his bandmates.
