Christmas markets start earlier: Itzehoe celebrates the punchwald!

In a spectacular start at Christmas time, the Christmas markets in Schleswig-Holstein opened their goals earlier this year! The "Punschwald" in Itzehoe (Steinburg district) already shone on November 1, while the markets in Husum (North Friesland district) and Heide (district of Dithmarschen) ignite their festive lights on Monday. Torben Ernst from the Touristinfo in Heide revealed that the showmen wished to start the Heider winter world a week before the Sunday of the Dead. The large wooden pyramid leads the visitors to 39 stands and an ice rink on which 160 teams in curling will fight for victory. The official opening of the Heider winter world will take place on Monday evening at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, 40 “Last Generation” activists in Itzehoe provided a traffic chaos! With flags and banners, they blocked the Breitenburger Straße/Schumacherallee intersection and stopped car traffic for several hours. Your goal? Put attention to the ongoing trial against four of their members in front of the Itzeho district court. Despite the massive traffic disruptions, the police reported a quiet course of the campaign. A positive conclusion, despite the disorders!

But that was not the only excitement of the weekend! A violent porridge shower led to a serious accident on the A23. A car caught between the Itzehoe-Nord and Schenefeld junctions and overturned. The driver had to be taken to the hospital. A dramatic example of how quickly the situation on the streets can change!
