Refurbishment treasure in Görlitz: Entrepreneur gives a new life to vacant house

In Görlitz, a neglected gem blossoms! The Eckhaus Biesnitzer Straße 56/Fröbelstraße, which has been empty for over a decade, is brought to new life by entrepreneur Roland Nixdorf. For years the jewelry was falling, but Nixdorf, which suspected hidden splendor behind the walls, was finally able to convince the community of heirs and put the keys to this historic building. "I tried to renovate the house as well -known and true to the original as possible," says Nixdorf.

The building from 1927 was badly affected by the neglect when Nixdorf was allowed to start the roof renovation at the end of 2022. Cracks and water burglaries threatened, but the solid building fabric remained intact! With full dedication, the 53-year-old has redesigned the rooms of the three apartments, which now show a successful mix of historical elegance and modern comfort. Old kitchens were turned into spacious bathrooms and the winter garden rooms were restored: "My children are already out of the house," explains Nixdorf, who now wants to move to the ground floor.

A dream becomes true: renovation in detail

With great attention to detail, Nixdorf has invested in the renovation. The old wooden doors connect the rooms stylishly while large windows shine inside. Historical elements, such as the recovered dormers and the colored glass windows in the stairwell, give the apartments a unique character. "Finding tenants was not a problem at all," says the owner, who will continue the rest of the renovation after moving into his apartment, including the renovation of the garage from 1927. "In summer everything will be finished," adds Nixdorf, while looking at the new residents with anticipation.

The final completion of the system is imminent: the first new tenants should move in at the end of November. With these precious apartments, equipped with the latest heating technology and underfloor heating, Nixdorf combines history and modernity in an admirable way.
