New life for Werdau: Sidonienstraße again after renovation!

The residents of Werdau are allowed to breathe a sigh of relief! The first construction phase of Sidonienstraße is now released for traffic. After years of complaints about the miserable condition of the street, the city finally acted. Thanks to the construction decision in August 2023, around 650,000 euros flowed into the comprehensive renovation - 66 percent financed by funding from the city renovation program!

What has actually changed? The dilapidated gas line and the drinking and sewage connections are now shining in new splendor! The road was expanded to a proud width of 6.8 meters so that truck also has enough space for encounter traffic. And not to forget: the pedestrians can finally look forward to a handsome sidewalk with original granite bricks - something that has been missed for a long time. But be careful, drivers! Despite new trees, the parking facilities along the street remain almost the same, but parking on the curb is no longer tolerated! Rescue services and disposal vehicles have often had problems with it in the past, and these times should now be over.

look into the future: further construction work in sight

Last Friday, October 25th, the new section was officially opened. And that's not the end! In March 2025, the next construction phase in the upper area of Sidonienstraße is to be tackled. The city of Werdau stays tuned and does everything possible to further improve the road conditions. The residents can be excited to see what the future will bring!
