Christmas tunnels in northern Saxony: Prices explode - luxury for everyone?

The pre -Christmas period not only brings a festive mood, but also rising prices! The first Christmas tunnels have arrived in the region's bakeries and customers have to dig deep into their pockets. Up to 20 euros per kilogram - that's a real price shock! The deputy head of the state guild Frieder Francke from Torgau explains the reasons: "Increasing energy costs and the minimum wage are increasing to the bakers. In addition, many dairy farmers have given up, which has a drastically affect butter prices. And butter is a must for a good Christmas tunnel!"

Not only the tunnel prices cause excitement! In the municipality of Cavertitz near Oschatz, a discarded fire engine is auctioned. The vehicle was in use until September before it was replaced by a new purchase. Despite over 3100 calls on the auction platform, the first bid failed to do - the starting price of 8,500 euros was apparently too high. The municipality is now planning to offer the vehicle for auction again, this time with a significantly reduced starting price. Watch out bargain hunters!
