B6 in Seerhausen is closed: diversions and construction site stress!
An important transport project is imminent: From this Wednesday, the B6 will become a construction site. After the roadway between the Reppen and Lonnewitz junctions was renewed three years ago, it is now the turn of the section from the border of the North Saxony and Meißen districts to the junction of the B169 near Seerhausen. According to the city of Riesa, the asphalt surface layer in this area is expected to be renewed by November 9th. The federal highway will be completely closed during the construction period.
This measure has a direct impact on traffic. The entrance to the B169 in Seerhausen, which is an important connection to Riesa and the right bank of the Elbe, will also be closed during this time. The Meißen district had already announced these construction activities for August/September in the spring, but the concrete work is now starting.
Difficulties in getting around
For drivers driving from Oschatz towards Meißen, the last opportunity to leave the B6 is the turnoff to Ganzig and Reppen. From Ganzig, road users can drive through the 30 zone to get to Bornitz and finally to Riesa city center, which allows them to bypass the traffic lights in Bornitz.
But the closed route will pose major problems for travelers. The connection from Oschatz via the B6 and Mautitz to Riesa-Weida and further into the city center unfortunately remains blocked due to the closure. Due to construction work on the Borna through town, the route via Mannschatz and Schmorkau is not a suitable alternative, although this route could be a bit tiring due to the traffic lights.
Traffic control
With the closure of the B6, traffic from Oschatz to Riesa will officially be redirected via Salbitz and the B169 to Seerhausen. So if you still want to go to Riesa, you now have to take the new route via the B169. The traditional route via Kalbitz and Riesa-Pausitz is also interrupted due to construction work, resulting in a long diversion with heavy traffic.
Another point that travelers need to keep in mind: If the destination is the Riesa train station or its parking lot, you should pay attention to the fact that the B169/182 junction is currently closed due to construction work. That's why you have to leave the B169 at the exit to Riesa-Park or a little later at Friedrich-List-Straße. If you miss this exit, there can be considerable waiting times until you can finally leave the main road again.
