Employees at Leipzig Airport: We express our mistrust!

Flughafen Leipzig, Deutschland - The employees at Leipzig and Dresden Airport are on alert! In a courageous step, around 1,400 employees with an open letter to the supervisory board of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG (MFAG) have turned to express their deep distrust. The reasons are alarming: a lean winter flight schedule, the withdrawal of Ryanair and stagnating freight transactions make the concerns about your own jobs grow. "We are the airport and we express our mistrust to the board," quotes the "Sächsische Zeitung" from the letter. CEO of CEO Götz Ahmelmann is strongly criticized because experienced specialists have been replaced by inexperienced employees, which significantly impairs decision -making.

Leipzig Airport: Standstill at negotiations

But that's not all! Negotiations on the industry tariff for soil traffic services stagnate despite several strikes. The employees are calling for a redevelopment contribution from all employees, but the reactions of the board members fail to materialize. "Where's the contribution of the board?" Ask the employees in their open letter. Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) has also been pointed out several times, but there was no answer. The patience of the employees is in the end and they hope that their letter will finally move the supervisory board to act.

In the middle of this tense situation, however, there is a ray of hope: the contract with DHL was extended prematurely until 2053, and with improved conditions! Leipzig Airport will be able to expect 73 million euros per year in the future. However, it remains to be seen whether this positive message is sufficient to dispel the concerns of the employees. MFAG faces a financial challenge, because around 145 million euros are missing by 2026, and the flight figures are in free fall. It seems high time for drastic measures!
