HCL fights bravely, but derby defeat against Halle-Neustadt!
Leipzig. Span> An exciting derby on Advent Sunday ended for the HC Leipzig with a short 28:30 defeat against SV Union Halle-Neustadt. The 827 spectators in the brothers' hall were electrified until the last minute when Marlene Tucholke scored the intermediate status of 23:21 in the 48th minute. But despite the strong appearance of the young Leipzigers, it was not enough to win against the league leader from Halle.
"We ultimately failed again today," said HCL coach Erik Töpfer after the game. Ines Seidler, the trainer of the Halleers, also confirmed the balance of the game: "It was absolutely a game at eye level. One or two more errors of the HCL were decisive for us." The Leipzigers started nervously and rejected some simple balls, but were able to keep up until the end and had the chance to equalize shortly before the end. "This is also a ripening process," emphasized Töpfer, while he praised the young players who had to prove themselves in this intensive atmosphere.

to emphasize Marlene Tucholke, who was already playing a key role in the team at the age of 17 and scored eight goals against the wildcats from Hall. "We saw that we can keep up with the leader," said the talented back player. Her experiences from the U18 World Cup in China have certainly helped her to assert herself in such pressure situations. Lara Tauchmann, who has just recovered from a cruciate ligament injury, also showed great courage and held the team with three important goals in the final phase. "Lara always progresses and plays with an incredible amount of heart," praised Erik Töpfer. The Leipzigers now have to bundle their strength, because the next strong opponent is waiting for you on the next Advent Sunday.
