Medical emergency in the Semperoper: concert goers in danger!

There was a dramatic incident during a concert at the Semperoper in Dresden when several visitors complained of health problems. The reports from Idowa and BR24 describe that three concert goers reported feeling unwell, circulatory problems and respiratory irritation. The emergency services were quickly alerted, and during the operation it became clear that four emergency services also showed similar symptoms.

The emergency doctors initially treated the three sick guests on site, two of whom were taken to hospital. As part of the relevant investigations, the fire department requested special forces with respiratory protection to ensure safety in the opera. Despite intensive measurements, no pollutants could be detected in the building, which initially left the cause of the complaints unclear. At the time of the incident, the event was already coming to an end, so an evacuation was not necessary.

Shocking moments at the opera

The police have started an investigation, especially since one of the affected spectators even became unconscious. Those present were able to leave the Semperoper in an orderly manner, and the fire brigade ensured that the event, which was staged by the Saxon Staatskapelle under the direction of conductor Philippe Herreweghe with classical works by Haydn and Mozart, went ahead. Members of the emergency services also sought a medical examination after reporting symptoms.
