On Wednesday, the DRK transforms Zeisigwaldstraße into a creepy backdrop, in which from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. to the "Night of the Vampires". Employees of the blood donation service are not only equipped with eerie make-up, but also all those willing to donate are invited to appear in the costume. But there is a serious reason behind the hustle and bustle: the demand for donations of blood is urgent!

The DRK blood donation service North-East uses the Halloween mood to draw attention to the critical location. During the autumn holidays, many potential donors failed to materialize, which endangers patient care. Blood preparations can only be kept to a limited extent; Red blood cells can be stored for a maximum of 42 days, while platelet concentrates only last four days. A call to all healthy people from the age of 18: come over and make an important contribution in this scary time!

If you want to donate blood, you should consider a few things: A medical preliminary examination ensures that the suitability for donation is currently being checked. Healthy men can donate up to four times a year, women up to four times. There must be at least eight weeks between the donations. And don't forget: the ID card is a must!
