Arthur, who spent his school days in a support center for hearing impaired, decided with his mother to train as a hearing aid acoustician after he originally wanted to become a watchmaker. In his first few weeks he had difficulty calling because he could only hear the caller on one ear. But with a new service cell phone that transmits the signal on both sides, the Situation has improved. "We noticed that it was uncomfortable to ask Arthur several times," confirms Schuster.

Arthur has now proven itself in his job and conducts service talks, hearing tests and adapts to hearing systems. His favorite subjects in the vocational school are audiological advice, where he learns to capture the complaints of customers. Despite his impairment, he shows a remarkable ability to deal with children, which is particularly important to him by his colleagues. "Most customers don't even notice that I am wearing hearing aids," he says proudly.

While Arthur blooms, reality remains bleak for many people with disabilities. According to the Bautzen Employment Agency, they still have a hard time finding a job. Of 1,222 operated, who are obliged to stop people with severe disabilities, only 532 fulfilled this obligation. 9,455 people are currently unemployed in the Bautzen district, including 746 with severe disabilities. "HR managers should use the potential to attract work and specialists," appeals Marion Richter from the Bautzen Employment Agency.
