Hussein from Syria: From the refugee to the successful job starter in Radeberg!

Radeberg. is pulled. At that time he was full of dreams, but his knowledge of German was rudimentary. Today, a year later, his life has changed drastically: Hussein has a full -time job in Pulsnitz and already works in the food sector. His progress in the German language is impressive - from an illiterate he has developed into a young man who writes his German friend about whatsapp messages.

Hussein is one of seven unaccompanied minor refugees who live in the living group led by the children's arche. This group offers space for ten young people between the ages of 14 and 18. The head Lisa Krause explains that the young people have to move out when they become of legal age. Hussein is already looking for an accommodation, supported by his office. He received subsidiary protection, which brings him a three -year residence permit and the right to regular work.

Problems and challenges

Despite the positive developments, there are also challenges. Two young people had to leave the residential group because they did not stick to the rules, which led to two ads for assault. The police carry out regular checks to ensure the safety of the residents. "Regular violations are not tolerated," emphasizes Lisa Krause.

But the safety of the unaccompanied minor refugees is not always guaranteed. Hussein reports of an incident in the S-Bahn when several men called "foreigners out", which caused him and his friends to change the train. Young people also experience everyday racism in local public transport, such as pulling in their valid educational tickets by inspectors. "This is arbitrary," says the facility manager. Despite these challenges, the situation remains calmer than feared.
