EU funding: Saxony blooms with chickpeas and new ideas!

Dresden. In Saxony, innovative companies sprout like mushrooms, and thanks to a massive EU funding of a total of 645 million euros from just transition (JTF). This financial support aims to economically strengthen regions that are affected by the coal phase -out. Especially in the coal mining areas such as the Lausitzer Revier and Chemnitz, the money is urgently needed to create new perspectives.

A prime example is Emilie Wegner, who produces chickpea snacks with her Hülsenreich GmbH in Leipzig-Eutritzsch. Your creative idea of ​​offering legumes in different flavors has already found its way into numerous drugstores and supermarkets. "Snacks everyone likes to eat," emphasizes the 29-year-old, who and her team of 15 employees drive production. Wegner plans to increase its sales of 650,000 euros to almost one million euros, supported by EU funding, which enables it to invest in new machines.

also Jörg Schütze, a master baker from Oberlausitz, benefits from EU funding. With a grant of 70 percent, he was able to modernize his bakery Drechsel and open eleven sales outlets. "Securing the existing permanent jobs" was the goal of funding, and Sagittarius sees the need to stay in the region, despite the emigration of young people to the big cities. "It's not everything bad," he says optimistically.

In Zittau, the brothers Oskar and Ferdinand Meyer launched an innovative project: the construction of a zeppelin from lightweight materials. Without the JTF funding, your startup would not have been possible. "We think the idea of ​​climate -neutral flying is great," says Oskar. The young company plans to present a ten -meter -long model next year that could be approved as a drone.

Not to be forgotten are the horse trainers of Awego Horses & Stunts, who want to expand their riding hall with the help of the JTF funding program and install a photovoltaic system. "We also do riding training with actors," explains Alexander Knappe, one of the managing directors. The support of the EU shows that a new era of entrepreneurship is heralded in Saxony.
