Poisoning exhibition: Jewish life in Wittenberg in the Third Reich
Wittenberg/MZ-an emotional moment for the city of Wittenberg! On the commemoration day of the pogrom night, the gripping exhibition "Jews of the city of Wittenberg in the Third Reich" was opened by Ronny Kabus in the cloister of the monastery church. Mayor Torsten Integrated (independent) and Katharina Kabus, the widow of the historian, presented the moving show, which offers a deep insight into the city's Jewish life during the darkest chapters of history.
"The time could hardly be more suitable," emphasized affiliated. "We want to learn from the past to avoid mistakes from back then." The exhibition is not just a review, but an urgent appeal to today's society to deal with history. Katharina Kabus emphasized the intensive research work of her late husband: "He devoted himself to the fates of the Jewish citizens of Wittenberg with full strength." The search for contemporary witnesses was a challenge because they were scattered all over the world.
a treasure from the attic
"It is a nice feeling that my husband's work in the city is recognized in the city," said the 76-year-old. The exhibition, which was long in the attic, was revised a few years ago and presented in the urban collections of Lutherstadt Wittenberg. The city supported the manufacturing costs to honor Ronny Kabus' valuable work.
The exhibition illuminates the Nazi era from seizure of power to Nuremberg laws to the November pogroms and the end of the Second World War, all based on individual fates. Visitors can visit the exhibition daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. by March 31, 2025, with the last admission at 2:30 p.m. Accompanying this there is the book "Jews of the Lutherstadt Wittenberg in the Third Reich", which is now available in the fourth edition.
