Saarlouis sets a sign: No to violence on women on November 25th!

An urgent call to solidarity: On Monday, November 25th, at 5 p.m., the highly expected campaign "Stop! No to violence on women" of the Zonta Club Saarlouis starts. Supported by the women's representatives of the city and the district of Saarlouis, the participants gather in the Saarlouis city garden on the striking orange bank opposite the playground. Together they march to the pavilion on French street, where a moving minute's silence is held for the women concerned. This action is a strong sign against violence and a call to change!

The campaign, which begins on the international day to end violence against women, will continue until December 10, the day of human rights. During this time, numerous public buildings in Saarlouis, Völklingen, Dillingen and Neunkirchen will shine in bright orange to draw attention to the UN initiative "Orange the World". This global movement, which has existed since 1991, has the goal of attracting the shocking statistics on gender -specific violence.

alarming statistics on violence against women

The numbers are frightening: every third woman in Germany experiences physical or sexualized violence at least once in her life. That is over twelve million women! A woman is physically injured every 45 minutes, and every other day a woman is killed by her (ex) partner. These alarming facts illustrate how deeply rooted the problem is in our society and how important it is to fight against it.

As part of the campaign, the film "Tomorrow is another day" will also be shown on Tuesday, November 26th, at 7.30 p.m. in the Thalia Kino Bous. Inspired by her grandmother's life story, the director and leading actress Paola Cortellesi brings the audience to think. Entry is six euros and the tickets can be reserved online. Be part of this important movement and set an example against violence against women!
