Anniversary celebration of the mileage: hiking heroes honored!

In the Schmelzer brewery, an impressive annual celebration of the "Kilometer eater" hiking club took place, to which chairman Gerhard Laux welcomed around 50 members. Long -term members were honored for their loyalty in a festive framework, while the most eager hikers of the year were awarded gifts. Laux referred to the challenges of the past hiking year, in particular the decline in participants in their own popular migration in June, which is considered critical of the financial future of the association. He appealed to the members to actively participate in the club activities in the future.

At the ceremony, numerous members were recognized for their longstanding membership. Ursula Drewlo, Vera Emmerich and Inge Jochem (10 years), Martin Offholz and Gabriele Thome (20 years), and Selina Laux, who have been part of the club for 30 years, are particularly noteworthy. Thomas Bauer was honored for his 50-year loyalty. The hiking station Heiner Altpeter and Elmar Meiser honored the most active hikers, with Elmar Meiser with 43 participation, followed most of the hikes, followed by Marko and Carmen Kleber with 34 and 31. The two youngest hikers, Ben (31) and Max Kleber (26), as well as the oldest active hiker, Aloysius Berg with 25 participations, received special awards.

Overall, the "kilometers eaters" took part in 54 hikes in Saarland and the adjacent regions this year, with 934 starting reports from members and guests. The association was particularly represented in Bubach-Calmesweiler with 66 participants. Meiser and Laux thanked all hikers and drivers who are always committed.
