First snow in Saarland: Winter road conditions threaten!

Hochwald, Saarland, Deutschland - storm and snow are just around the corner! The first snow of autumn could fall in Saarland this week and the predictions are alarming. According to the ARD weather competence center, the chances of the first flakes are particularly high in the high forest. Meteorologist Marcel Herber warns: "Despite the warm soils, you should prepare for wintry road conditions above about 400 to 500 meters."

But before the white splendor moves in, a violent rainstorm awaits us! Today the sky above Saarland remains gray and rainy, with up to 20 liters of rain per square meter in just twelve hours. The temperatures range between 5 and 8 degrees - still relatively mild, but that changes quickly! Tomorrow it will be windy, even stormy in the high forest, while the rain continues to fall. In the afternoon, the first porridge or snow shower could open, the temperatures reach a maximum of 7 to 10 degrees.

In the night of Wednesday it gets serious: Cold Northern Sea air moves to Saarland and the temperatures fall on frosty 1 to -3 degrees. At noon, the values only climb to 0 to 4 degrees, while we have to count on rain, snow or penny showers during the day. Especially in higher altitudes, smooth roads threaten! On Thursday it gets even colder, with low values from 0 to -3 degrees and other snow showers.

But there is hope! On Friday, the snow showers should let off and a mix of sun and loose clouds should lighten the scenery. The temperatures settle between 0 and 3 degrees - a small ray of hope in the winter weather conditions!
