Rüttgen: Scholz isolates Germany - A dramatic turnaround in security policy!
The conflict in Ukraine is taking dramatic turns! Norbert Röttgen (CDU), deputy chairman of the Atlantic Bridge, has taken a clear position. He does not see the US government's recent decision to allow Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles against Russian targets behind the front lines as a mere election maneuver. “For Biden, tactics are now over, for Biden it is now foreign policy,” says Röttgen on the television station Phoenix. This decision is seen as a direct response to the threat posed by 10,000 North Korean soldiers that Russia sent to the Ukraine war.
But what consequences could a Donald Trump victory in future elections have for support for Ukraine? “It can be expected from him – anything else would be a surprise – that there will be no more American help for Ukraine after the end of the Biden administration,” warns Röttgen. A Trump deal with Putin would be the “worst option of all options” that could come at the expense of Ukraine and European security. Röttgen now sees Europe as having a responsibility to ensure its own security, since US support can no longer be taken for granted.
Scholz in criticism
Chancellor Olaf Scholz is also under pressure! His phone call with Putin isolated not only him but also the whole of Germany in terms of foreign policy. Röttgen has to say it clearly: “The Chancellor is now completely isolated.” This isolation is criticized by the French President as well as the Polish and British Prime Ministers. Scholz's decision not to deliver long-range missiles clearly deviates from the American line and is leading to a worrying increase in Russian attacks on Ukraine.
The situation is more tense than ever before! European security is at stake and Röttgen calls on European nations not to underestimate their role in the conflict. Europe's security depends not only on the United States, but also on a strong and decisive European response to the current challenges.
