Lena Lander takes over management of Worms sports funding in 2025!

The city of Worms is facing an exciting change at the forefront of sports funding! From January 2025, Lena Lander will take the reins and succeed Gerd Vogt, who is going into well-deserved retirement. The change comes as no surprise, as Lander grew up in Worms and has been involved in local sports clubs since she was a teenager. She turned her passion for sport into a successful professional career by studying at the German Sports University and working as an education officer at the Rheinhessen Sports Association.

The decision to choose Lander came after an exciting, open application process that attracted numerous applications. A team consisting of the human resources department, department management, staff council, equal opportunities office and a representative of the Worms sports district was involved in the selection process. "With Gerd Vogt, we are saying goodbye to a committed sports officer who is retiring. Thanks to early succession planning, the work will continue seamlessly," explained sports department head Timo Horst and was optimistic about the collaboration with Lander, who already has many contacts with Worms clubs and volunteers.
