Drunk driver causes chaos: 45,000 euros in property damage in Bodenheim!

In a regrettable incident, a drunk driver caused considerable damage to property in Bodenheim on Sunday, October 6th. The Oppenheim police reported that the 26 -year -old driver was on the L413 around 1:30 a.m. and lost control of his vehicle. The speed was clearly too high, and its strong influence of alcohol reinforced the danger he depicted.

When entering the roundabout on the local Randstrasse, the driver ran over a traffic island and attracted a trace of the destruction. He tore all traffic signs and the lighting in the area of the roundabout and finally came to a standstill in the roundabout.

The police investigators who were made aware of the incident quickly found that the driver was heavily alcoholic. As a result, various emergency services had to move: fire brigade, a towing service, the state company mobility and energy suppliers. The authorities appreciate the property damage to around 45,000 euros.

The legal consequences for the person who caused the accident are serious. A procedure for road traffic hazard is initiated against him and his driver's license has been ensured. Depending on the further investigation, he could face a prison sentence of up to five years or a fine. There is also the possibility that a medical-psychological examination (MPU) will be ordered in order to check its suitability for driving a motor vehicle.
