In a regrettable incident, a drunk driver caused considerable damage to property in Bodenheim on Sunday, October 6th. The Oppenheim police reported that the 26 -year -old driver was on the L413 around 1:30 a.m. and lost control of his vehicle. The speed was clearly too high, and its strong influence of alcohol reinforced the danger he depicted.

When entering the roundabout on the local Randstrasse, the driver ran over a traffic island and attracted a trace of the destruction. He tore all traffic signs and the lighting in the area of the roundabout and finally came to a standstill in the roundabout.

As a result, various emergency services had to move: fire brigade, a towing service, the state company mobility and energy suppliers. Depending on the further investigation, he could face a prison sentence of up to five years or a fine. There is also the possibility that a medical-psychological examination (MPU) will be ordered in order to check its suitability for driving a motor vehicle.
