Trier commemorates the Hamas victim: solidarity with Israel takes the city
In the city of Trier, a memorial march took place on Monday evening, which was reminiscent of the one -year anniversary of Hamas on Israel. Despite fewer incidents, the event could be held in a quiet and respectful mood.
Around 70 participants gathered in front of the Porta Nigra, some protected themselves against the rain with umbrellas. Posters with inscriptions such as "Bring Them Home" and "Never forget" were raised, while the Israeli flag was seen in numerous hands. A woman had wrapped the flag around her body and radiated determination.

The speakers who came from the German-Israeli Society of Trier, among other things, reminded of the cruel deed of Hamas from October 7, 2023 in powerful speeches. It is challenged loudly to free the 101 hostages that are still captured as soon as possible. "We need more attention. Politicians do too little to save these people," complained Vanessa Roth from the German-Israeli Society.
The participants not only showed their sympathy for the victims, but also their common will to draw attention to the continuing need for freedom of hostage.
solidarity and security precautions
For many people, the event was also about expressing their solidarity with Israel. An older lady emphasized: "I am here to support Jewish life in Germany," which is particularly important in view of the recent anti -Semitic incidents. Next to her, a young woman waved an Israeli flag and held a poster with the image of a delayed hostage in his hand. "It is unbearable that such a small country should be suppressed. That must not be," she said in a clear voice. The train accompanied by the police led through the city center towards Viehmarktplatz. Although no counter -demonstrations were registered, it was warned that potential disorders were not excluded. Halfway, the participants were briefly accompanied by three women, the pro-Palestinian slogans called. But the peaceful demonstrators were not put off by it. The event ended with some prayers at the cattle marketplace.
The police found that everything went "absolutely peaceful". Organizer Yaniv Taran expressed his satisfaction with the participants. "The participation is good for Trier, even if I would like more. But I am grateful for everyone who is here. It is a bright spot that gives hope," explained Taran.
