Speyer celebrates: New children's table opens doors for needy children!
Heine-Heinrich-Straße, 67346 Speyer, Deutschland - Speyer has an exciting new place for needy children! On Friday, November 15th, the children's table in the St. Hedwig community center opens its doors and will be an important point of contact for six to twelve-year-old girls and boys from financially weak families. Mayor Monika Kabs described the opening as a "very important step in the right direction" and emphasized that Speyer can be proud of this Initiative.
a strong team for a good thing
This important project is the result of a collaboration between the Speyer district association of the German Red Cross and the Pax Christi cathedral parish. DRK President Maurice Main and pastoral officer Markus Lamm reported on the challenges they had to overcome, but also about the "great" support they have received in the past few months. Craftsmen have generously offered their time and skills to renovate the basement of the community center and to refresh the kitchen.
The children's table will not only be a place to eat. Head of Nomena Becker announced that the offer will develop over time. "It is important that we adapt to the children and not vice versa," she said. In addition to healthy cooking and eating, there will also be handicrafts and reading activities that promote teamwork and conflict resolution. The children's table is open on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, and further information can be found on the homepage of the DRK district association Speyer: DRK-KV-Speyer.de.
