Cycle path closure from Speyer to Schifferstadt: asphalt is being replaced!
From October 15th, the cycle path along the L454, which connects Speyer with Schifferstadt, will be closed for renovation work. Although some barriers have already been installed since Thursday, the work itself will not begin until the next few days. The State Office for Mobility (LBM) has confirmed that the renovation is necessary due to significant unevenness in the asphalt surface. These problems are primarily caused by tree roots lifting the asphalt.
The renovation work includes the sections where the asphalt has to be removed and replaced. Experts estimate that the work will take around four weeks. The cycle path is expected to be reopened to cyclists in mid-November.
Additional renovation measures
After restoring the cycle path between Speyer and Schifferstadt, the LBM is also planning to revise another section. This is located between the passenger parking lot at the Speyer-Nord junction and the section that has already been renovated. This additional work is expected to take approximately two weeks and will ensure the entire cycle path remains in optimal condition.
The need for these renovations shows how important it is to regularly inspect the infrastructure and carry out maintenance measures to ensure the safety and comfort of cyclists. Driving on uneven surfaces can not only be uncomfortable, but it can also increase the risk of falls. The planned measures will significantly improve bicycle navigation between Speyer and Schifferstadt.
Cyclists should contact the LBM regularly for information about the exact progress of the work and possible diversions. It remains to be seen whether further adjustments will be made during the construction period. as reported by www.rheinpfalz.de.
