Mainz, Deutschland - Mainz. Alarm mood in Rhineland-Palatinate! Industry experienced a dramatic decline in sales in the first nine months of the year. According to the State Statistical Office in Bad Ems, the nominal turnover has fallen by a terrifying 7.2 percent - a hard blow compared to the nationwide decline of only 4.2 percent!

Total sales in Rhineland-Palatinate added to around 73.8 billion euros. But while the numbers went into the basement, there is a surprising turn: the number of employees has increased by 0.7 percent! A bright spot in the middle of the crisis, but the reasons for the poor sales are alarming. The chemical industry, an important pillar of the Rhineland-Palatinate economy, recorded a drop in sales of 3.5 percent. The mechanical engineers who had to accept a decline in a whopping 11 percent was even worse.

The greatest losses were recorded by the manufacturers of motor vehicles and power car parts - here the sales of shocking 23 percent broke up! The pharmaceutical industry was also not spared and had to accept a decline of 16 percent. The crisis of the chemical industry has a firm grip on the entire industry in Rhineland-Palatinate and raises questions about how it can go on.
