Wrestling disaster: Schifferstadt and Ludwigshafen experience disaster!

A pitch-black day for the wrestlers from the Lower Palatinate! In the Rhineland-Palatinate League, VfK Schifferstadt suffered a disastrous home defeat against SV Alemannia Hakenheim with 10:25 points. But that wasn't the only drama! ASV Ludwigshafen had to cancel its first home match of the second half of the season against last year's champions ASV Mainz 88 II just hours before the match due to an acute shortage of personnel. A shock for the fans and the entire team!

The league representative Jürgen Hoffmann was informed of the unfortunate situation: ASV Ludwigshafen could not compete due to the absence of several wrestlers. Only four operational fighters were available, and injuries and illnesses caused further failures. Mohra, who was responsible for the cancellation, informed the Ludwigshafen wrestling fans via Facebook that it would have been irresponsible to only send a greatly reduced team to the mat. The consequence? The canceled fight is considered a defeat with 0:40 points, which meant that ASV Ludwigshafen fell back to last place in the table.

Hope for improvement

An important break is now coming up for ASV Ludwigshafen: They will be free from fighting next week. Mohra hopes that the injured and sick wrestlers can recover by the next fight on November 16th against Alemannia Hakenheim. Hoffmann is also optimistic that the team will get back on its feet by then. VfK Schifferstadt, on the other hand, is looking forward to the upcoming local derby against Ludwigshafen on November 23rd. VfK chairman Thorsten Libowsky shows understanding for the cancellation of the ASV: “There is a wave of colds going on at the moment, that is simply force majeure.”

VfK Schifferstadt also had to struggle with health problems. Despite a flu epidemic, some wrestlers showed remarkable performances. Edgar Richter and Cuma Akgün were able to achieve victories, while others such as Jakob May and Roman Lobach suffered from the conditions. The wrestling world in the Vorderpfalz is in turmoil, and everyone is hoping that the situation will improve soon!
