Warning strike at Bito works: Employees demand 7% more wages!
Lauterecken, Deutschland - With an impressive warning strike, the Bito works employees in Lauterecken and Meisenheim set a sign on Tuesday afternoon! Under the call of IG Metall, around 100 employees gathered - that is about ten percent of the workforce - and moved to the headquarters in Meisenheim. The Autokorso started at 1 p.m. and moved through the streets, while the strikers loudly occurred for their demands.
The union calls for a wage increase of shocking seven percent as well as an increase in training allowances by 170 euros and additional tariffs for shift work. "Production is well represented. There are only a few of the administration," said Hans-Jürgen Eisebraun, the works council chairman. Negotiations in Mainz ended without result last week. "The offer of employers is a joke - an increase of only 1.7 percent, which is almost a minus offer compared to inflation," continues Eisbraun.
The location is heading!
The IG Metall is now making great hopes for the upcoming discussions in northern Germany and Bavaria. A successful conclusion there could serve as a model for all of Germany. But time is urging! If no agreement is reached on Monday, the union plans 24-hour warning strikes, which may affect three companies in the Bad Kreuznach area. Ingo Petzold, Managing Director of IG Metall Bad Kreuznach, emphasizes that the employers show a little exercise in the training allowances and shift allowances, but insist on their previous offer.
