7.1 million euros for the county: flood victims receive urgent help!
A huge financial boost for the facilities in the county affected by the flood disaster! State Secretary Simone Schneider presented Mayor Achim Juchem with funding notices worth a staggering 7.1 million euros. These funds come from the special fund “Aufbauhilfe 2021” and are intended for urgently needed interim measures for daycare centers and a provisional rescue station. “The local community of Grafschaft acted immediately after the devastating flood in July 2021 and supported other communities, despite their own challenges,” said Schneider, praising the community’s tireless efforts.
Massive support for daycare centers
Of the total 7.1 million euros provided, an impressive 5.6 million euros will flow into the emergency accommodation at the Mauritius daycare center in Heimersheim as well as the Blandine Merten, St. Pius and St. Hildegard daycare centers in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, all of which are operated by the Caritas Association Rhine-Mosel. These funds are crucial to getting the temporary facilities back up and running as quickly as possible. In addition, the community will receive 1.5 million euros for the development of the container space for the temporary rescue station of the DRK Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. These measures are essential to ensure the safety and well-being of affected children and the community.
The “Reconstruction Aid 2021” aims to repair the devastating damage caused by the heavy rain and flooding on July 14th and 15th, 2021. So far, around 956 million euros have already been approved in Rhineland-Palatinate from the development aid fund for the restoration of the municipal infrastructure. A clear proof of the tireless efforts of the authorities, who are doing everything they can to rebuild the region and ensure the quality of life of its citizens.
