Pumuckl returns: The big cinema adventure begins!

The popular goblin Pumuckl is celebrating his comeback on the big screen with the new filmPumuckl and the big misunderstanding, which starts next Thursday. This new film comes 63 years after the radio play series began on Bavarian Radio and 43 years after the first TV adventure with Master Eder, portrayed by Gustl Bayrhammer. Even 22 years after the last movie,Pumuckl and his circus adventure, Pumuckl returns, this time directed by Marcus H. Rosenmüller.

Pumuckl, the character created by Hans Clarin, is a red goblin who can only be seen by Master Eder, the master carpenter. It was originally established as a radio play series in 1961 and quickly became a fixture in German children's literature and on television. Pumuckl's adventures often deal with his naughty and childishly naive behavior, which gets him into trouble.

The plot of the new film

In the new film, master carpenter Florian, played by Florian Brückner, visits his former teacher's widow to repair the maypole carousel that he built together with his master. The new film's stories promise humorous adventures, including Pumuckl's chaos in a chicken coop, the stolen maypoles and his pranks, which even turn the Bavarian State Opera into the scene of chaos, where he distributes gluey sheet music.

Pumuckl is voiced by Maxi Schafroth, whose voice was adapted to Hans Clarin's original voice with the help of AI. The comedy of the film is enhanced by bizarre scenes in which a maypole thief ends up in a dung heap or a tractor drives into the village pond. Robert Palfrader takes on the role of conductor Hendrick Windmahler and provides additional entertainment.

Historical classification and impact

The character of Pumuckl has an eventful history behind him. It began in 1961 as a radio play series, invented by Ellis Kaut, and was soon adapted into books, TV series and films. Pumuckl's character, a lovable goblin with an insatiable thirst for adventure, has won fans across generations in Germany. Wikipedia describes that the first episode of the TV series was broadcast in 1962 and the last episode followed in 1973, with a total of 90 episodes being produced.

The popularity of the Pumuckl is also reflected in other media, including a musical version that premiered in Munich in 2000. With the current remake, the fascination for Pumuckl is not only continued, but also rekindled, which will happen through numerous humorous and melancholic moments in the new film.

With the goblin's return to the cinema, not only young viewers can look forward to an exciting, lively mix of adventure and humor, but also the older generations who grew up with Pumuckl. The new film promises to showcase the timelessness of this beloved character and reinvigorate him with modern technology and creative storytelling.
