Pensionist and thieves: required 16,000 euros for roofing work!

On Monday, shortly before noon, an attentive bank employee in Upper Austria reported a suspect incident. A 73-year-old retirementist was to withdraw several thousand euros to pay Romanian workers for flaring work on his roof. According to the craftsmen, however, this work should only cost around 1,600 euros, while the workers requested 16,000 euros. The pensioner planned to withdraw 8,000 euros, which was a partial amount of this excessive sum. The police were switched on to clarify the Situation, such as ORF reported .

In further investigations, the police found tools in the Romanian workers' vehicle, including a chainsaw and a battery that probably came from theft. The workers who live in Germany were brought to the police station in Rohrbach and reported by the public prosecutor. The financial police have also started investigations. The events raise questions about the appropriateness of the required prices and possible criminal machinations.
