Lohmar pulls the plug: Inter -municipal order service failed!

Lohmar, Deutschland - A joint project that started as a success story is about to come out! Lohmar, the city, which acted as a location for the joint order service in the Rhein-Sieg district, withdraws from the night patrol after six years. The reason? The area of application was just too big! The patrol, which was originally launched in 2019 to combat nightly disturbances, could not achieve the hoped -for efficiency.

The cities of Sankt Augustin, Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, Much, Ruppichteroth, Eitorf and Windeck were also involved, but the reality looked different: the emergency services had to drive up to 50 kilometers just to determine that the occasion for the assignment was already over. Lohmar's city administration reports an enormous personnel effort and difficulties to find suitable employees. The unattractive working hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on weekends and the low remuneration of around 3000 euros a month scare potential applicants.

The costs for the common service rose steadily, and Lohmar found that the billing was not fair according to population. Instead, the city proposed a new fee calculation, which provided a higher remuneration and a fee per use. But Sankt Augustin rejected this recalculation. The result? Lohmar announces the inter -municipal agreement on December 31, 2025! A concept for the reorganization of the regulatory construction service is to be developed by the middle of the year in order to examine synergies in traffic monitoring and enforcement of the city regulations.

Originally, the joint security service was launched to relieve the police, which, due to other urgent tasks, could no longer be responsible for nocturnal disturbances. While other cities in the Rhein-Sieg district, such as Siegburg and Hennef, have their own night teams, Lohmar is now looking for new solutions. The question remains: How will it go on with the night security in the region?
