Industrial culture in the Ruhr area: Extra 1 inspires on June 28th!
On January 9, 2025, the route of industrial culture announced a special event, which will take place in the historical scenes of the Ruhr area. The extra layer takes place on June 28 and transforms the former mines, blast furnaces, machine halls and other industrial cultural locations into a colorful festival of music, comedy, art, culture, theater and acrobatics.
The event is organized by the RTG (route of industrial culture), which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year. The event offers both large shows and exclusive guided tours and enables visitors to explore the extraordinary heritage of regional monuments.industrial highlights in the Ruhr area
The core scaffolding of the Route Industrial Culture includes 27 outstanding monuments, also called anchor points. The most famous are the Duisburg-Nord landscape park, the Gasometer Oberhausen and the UNESCO World Heritage Labor in Essen. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the various attractions on a 300 -kilometer circuit by bike.
The other remarkable locations that can be explored as part of the route of industrial culture are part of the Friedrich Heinrich Zechenpark in Kamp-Lintfort, the Berger monument on the Hohenstein as well as caves and heaps such as the Halde Pattberg in Moers or the Halle Hoheward. Overall, a variety of historical and cultural sites that celebrate the industrial past of the Ruhr area can be visited.
