Important inspection on Lake Aasen: Damage to the weir are checked!
In Münster, an important weir on Lake Aasen from Monday is with precise observation. The reason for this measure is the need to check damage to the important system that controls the water flow into the AA and thus regulates the water level of the lake. The weir, in use since 1953, requires careful inspection that is overdue because the last review has been three years ago.
The city administration has decided to temporarily seal the entire military system in order to identify potential bodies in need of renovation. This includes the fully drained drainage of the defense, a process that requires specific conditions. In order to carry out the maintenance work, the water level in the Aasee is temporarily reduced by about 20 centimeters. The watercourse is particularly diverted via a fish staircase.
maintenance work and possible extension
The planned inspection work should take around a week. However, storm -like rains could lead to delays and extend the duration of the work. It is important to maintain the integrity of this critical infrastructure, since it is important not only for the residents, but also for the environment.
The city of Münster informs the public about these steps. This inspection is crucial to maintain the functionality of the defense and ensure that it can also work in the coming years. As proof of further information, the WDR will report on developments in this context, both on television and on the radio, which contributes to informing citizens about progress.
