Essen's city center in a state of emergency: 11,000 celebrate Assad-Sturz!
An unexpected jubilee swept through the downtown Essen at the weekend. Around 11,000 people, primarily Syrian origin, came together to celebrate the case of the Syrian ruler Bashar al-Assad. The demonstration was originally registered for just 300 participants. But the crowd literally exploded when news was spreading into the window.
like Apollo News , the streets were transformed around the Jakob-Funke-Platz, Kettwiger Straße and Central station in a sea of people and emotions. The big train through the Essen Christmas market was particularly spectacular, a sight that united the joy and protest spirit.
traffic chaos and emotional scenes
The police were forced to show presence with hundreds and even helicopters in order to ensure both security and to get the traffic chaos under control. Massive traffic jams and honking autocorsos brought the city to a standstill in the meantime. Brushing music, loud cars and the flags of the Syrian opposition meandering through the air shaped the cityscape. An emotional and at the same time exuberant expression of the long -awaited political turn, accompanied by the submission of shock shots and the burning of fireworks, which led to isolated violations.
celebrations throughout NRW
The celebrations were not only limited to food. Across North Rhine-Westphalia, in cities such as Wuppertal, Bonn, Münster and Düsseldorf, groups of people also gathered to celebrate the historical turn. Almost all major cities in the region experienced similar scenes, albeit to a smaller extent. Wuppertal in particular counted up to a thousand participants.
