Red kite illegally shot: Nabu and wildlife station are looking for perpetrators!

A sad incident dealt with the city of Minden-Dützen when a red kite was illegally shot down. This majestic bird, known for its striking flight skills and its elegant sight, was discovered in painful condition at the end of August - injured and heavily emaciated in the Bastauwiesen. Immediate help came from a ranger of the Minden-Lübbecke district, who brought the bird to a wildlife station in Sachsenhagen.

Regrettably, the rescue operation for the red kite was unsuccessful. During a medical examination, X -ray images were made that showed shocking results: there were seven shot balls in the bird's body. This cruel deed not only leads to unnecessary suffering, but also raises questions about dealing with wild animals in the region.

criminal complaint and search for the perpetrator

In devotion to the protection of the wild animals, the wildlife station has now filed a criminal complaint against unknown persons in order to legally pursue the incident. In addition, the Naturschutzbund (NABU) Minden-Lübbecke actively searched for information on the shooter. These measures are crucial to set a sign against poaching and the illegal shelling of protected species.

The absurdity of this incident is unmistakable because the red kite is a protected species. In Germany it is forbidden to shoot birds and there are strict rules to protect the wildlife. The NABU and the wildlife station therefore appeal to the population to report information in order to take legal action against the person responsible.

The incident not only shows the dangers that wild animals are exposed, but also the need to clarify the population about the correct use of nature. A more conscious behavior, respect for the life of animals and a sharp awareness of environmental protection are essential to prevent such incidents in the future.
