Refurbishment of the Realschule am Stadtpark: Canal construction and new construction start!

Leverkusen, Deutschland - Leverkusen is preparing for a large construction project that will completely transform the junior high school at the city park! The city has now officially given the starting signal for extensive renovation work, which begin with the construction of new sewers for rainfall and dirty water. These urgent construction measures are necessary because the existing drainage still runs under the old school building, which is to be demolished in the first construction phase. An important step to ensure future water outflow!

But so that the desired channel work can begin, six trees and a total of 600 square meters of shrubs must first give way. The consequences of these clearings are noticeable, but the city plans to create replacement plantings when the new sports hall is put into operation. The sewer construction work is to start on November 25th, followed by the demolition work on the sports hall as well as the parts of the building III and VI, which are expected to begin in spring 2025. The already vacant parts of the school give a first taste of the upcoming changes!

The new rooms of the future

The planned new triple gymnasium will not only expand the sporting opportunities! A completely new scientific wing will provide a total of eight state-of-the-art spaces for chemical, biology and physics lessons as well as two for computer science. The innovations promise a significant improvement in teaching and learning conditions at the junior high school. However, the entire new building of the secondary school should be completed in summer 2017 at the earliest, so that the school community still has to adjust to some changes. It remains exciting to see how this huge redesign campaign will develop!
