Safe children in the car: Police clarify about child seats!

In the Höxter district, the district police authority put a remarkable reconnaissance campaign in the work that deals with the safety of children in the car. Under the motto "Kids in the seat", parents in the cities of Bad Driburg, Brakel and Höxter had the opportunity to find out about the optimal use of child seats. The series of events extended over three different dates and took place in the immediate vicinity of childcare facilities in order to achieve mothers and fathers.

at the different locations, including Siedlerplatz at the August-Hermann-Francke-Kita in Bad Driburg and the parking lot of the town hall in Brakel, various support systems were shown to the parents. These practical visual objects not only helped to arouse the parents' interests, but also enabled a direct contact for frequent questions and uncertainties about the safe transportation of their children.

Enlightenment about new regulations

A central topic of the event was the new UN regulation 129, which significantly simplifies the use of child seats. With a clear division of the sizes, it is intended to help parents choose the right seats for their children. It was also pointed out that many mistakes in the use of child seats are often ignored. Part of the Enlightenment also affected the purchase of used seats, in which potential damage after accidents are often not visible. The police encouraged the parents to be careful when purchasing such products.

Although many parents already had child seats, the review showed that there were often errors in the application. This included poorly adapted isofix fortifications, incorrectly set headrests and not properly secured belts. Another problem was the too low seat height, which led to the straps were not correct and thus the safety of the children was endangered.

The police officers placed great emphasis on a child -friendly speech in order to achieve the young audience. It was sensitized that children should not be transported on their lap, even on shorter journeys. In addition, the police asked to activate the child backups on the rear doors and to ensure that children always get out on the sidewalk side.

positive response and future events

It is worth noting that no administrative offenses were found in the campaign. All children were properly secured, which took into account the goal of the event to increase the security of the little ones.
