Border controls have an effect: 13% less unauthorized entry in Germany!

Berlin, Deutschland - Berlin - A dramatic decline in unauthorized entry in Germany! In the first three weeks after the introduction of inpatient controls at the land borders, the police found a decline of around 13 percent. The latest figures from the federal police show that between September 16 and October 6, a total of 3,464 foreigners wanted to enter without permission. 2,073 of this were rejected at the border. For comparison: In the three weeks earlier there were 3,984 unauthorized entry and 2,353 rejections.

The federal police have introduced strict controls since September 16, based on Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) at the borders to France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark. At the borders to Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, the controls have been active since mid -October 2023. Checks have also been on the German-Austrian border since 2015. While not every traveler is checked, everyone has to be prepared for possible controls.

decline also in the east

particularly striking: the number of unauthorized entry from 847 to 631 fell on the German-Polish border. Less unauthorized entry was also registered on the border with the Czech Republic. These developments are part of a greater strategy to combat irregular migration and to increase security, as Faeser emphasizes. The controls are a reaction to the challenges of cross -border crime and protection against Islamist terrorists.

The federal police have found that rejections are not possible without the inpatient controls. In addition, these controls make it difficult for the action of smuggling gangs, which often have to choose other routes during strict controls. According to the EU Border Protection Agency Frontex, the number of unauthorized entry at the EU's external borders has dropped by 42 percent in the first nine months of this year. The drastic declines on the central Mediterranean and western balcony routes are particularly noteworthy, while an increase is recorded on dangerous routes such as the West Africa route.
