A dramatic handball evening in the Oberliga: HSV Wegberg catapulted itself to the top of the table with a gripping 30:28 win against SV Straelen! Coach Siegfried Wagner was aware of the challenge: "We knew that we had to call good to very good performance to end this game as the winner." And did that! From the beginning, both teams offered an exciting game in which Wegberg mostly led with a narrow lead.

The second half was a real thriller! Wegberg expanded the lead to 19:16, but then came a critical phase: Straelen took the lead with 21:20. A strategic move by Wagner, who took a break, was crucial. In the 52nd minute it was 27:24 for Wegberg, but Straelen fought back and shortened to 26:27. Wegberg received a time penalty in an exciting final phase, but the clever team scored an important goal and maintained the pressure. Wagner praised the closed team performance and emphasized the strength of the back area.

In the association league, the ASV Rurtal celebrated a gripping 25:22 away win against SR Aachen. After a balanced first round, the Rurtaler pulled away at the crucial moment and scored four goals in a row, which ensured victory. VfR Übach-Palenberg also showed impressive morals: after a gap of four goals at half-time, they fought back and won with 29:27 against SSK Kerpen. A truly exciting evening for handball fans!
