Traffic light coalition on the abyss? Dispute over budget and economic policy escalated!

Magdeburg, Deutschland - Berlin - The coalition of SPD, Greens and FDP is under pressure! Economic Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) warns of the consequences of internal disputes in the middle of the US elections and the Ukraine War. In the ARD "daily topics" he said: "This is the worst time to burst a government." The tensions within the traffic light government are high, and time is pushing because the coalition committee is just around the corner!

A crisis discussion between Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), Minister of Finance Christian Lindner (FDP) and Habeck is intended to clarify how the coalition in economic and financial policy can come back to a common denominator. The dispute escalated after Habeck had proposed a state -funded investment fund, while Lindner called for an “economic transition” with a fundamental revision of existing political decisions. The fronts seem hardened and the question remains: who will give in?

Habeck demands suggestions from the other

The financial problems are pressing! The billion hole in the federal budget must be stuffed until the cleaning session of the budget committee on November 14th. Habeck sees the possibility of an agreement on the federal budget in 2025 and hopes that the freedom of Intel-Milliarden can contribute to reducing the household gap. However, he also demands from the other coalition partners to make his own suggestions instead of just criticizing: "I expect the others to make suggestions in their own area.»

Finance Minister Lindner commented on the current tensions in a podcast and emphasized that in the coming weeks it would be important directional decisions. However, he sees fundamental differences in the economic policy approaches and Habeck. "We have pleasant conversations about differences that we have to bridge," said Lindner. While Scholz remains optimistic and refers to the coalition agreement, the question remains whether the traffic light coalition can survive this crisis. The pressure is high and time is running!
