In January and February 2025, the A40 in the Ruhr area must be completely closed four times in the Ruhr area due to construction work at the Kaiserberg motorway junction near Duisburg. This section is of particular importance, since the A3 and A40 meet here.
The first full closure is planned in both directions from Friday, January 17th to Monday, January 20th. During this time, the concrete foundations for steel protection devices are built. In the following week the second full closure, which only affects Essen direction and is planned from Thursday, January 23, to Monday, January 27th. The last announced full closure is planned in both directions from Friday, February 28th to Monday, March 3. During this time, the protective scaffolding for the superstructure of the bridge construction is installed.
After carrying out the full closures, the traffic on the A40 is led to narrowed lanes in both directions of construction at construction site operation. Depirtions are signposted in all blocks in order to guide the traffic as smoothly as possible.
